Royal Salute has launched its Royal Wedding Edition, in tribute to the forthcoming marriage between Prince Henry of Wales (Prince Harry) and Meghan Markle which will take place on 19 May 2018 at Windsor Castle.

Only 70 bottles of this whisky, which will come in Dartington Crystal decanters, have been created.

Each decanter is engraved with a unique number and housed in a hand crafted box made from American oak.  The decanters and boxes have a floral theme, which seems fitting for Harry and Meghan’s spring wedding. The decanters are adorned with images of  roses, thistles and barley. Daffodils are used in the design to celebrate Harry’s title as Prince Henry of Wales while California poppies pay tribute to Meghan’s place of birth, Los Angeles.

Sandy Hyslop, Royal Salute’s Master Blender, has used some of the “oldest” whiskies which are available to Royal Salute. However, marketing materials make no mention of the age of the whiskies. Sandy Hyslop says:

“It was a pleasure to create such a special whisky for HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle. By marrying together some of the oldest and rarest whiskies in our portfolio, and aging them in American Oak casks, I have created a harmonious blend to match the coming together of such an iconic couple.”

This blend has been matured in 100% American oak casks to honour Meghan Markle’s American heritage. This is a first for Royal Salute.

The Royal Salute Royal Wedding Edition has a recommended retail price of US$10,000. No, that’s no typo. You read correctly – this whisky could be yours for a solid 10 large.
