I've struggled to get through a few drams of my Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey – struck me as rough and raw, and I just didn't want to keep sipping it. #whisky #singlemalt #whiskey #connemara #irish #irishwhiskey #ireland #picoftheday #instadram #whiskyporn #whiskygram #instawhisky #watch #tag
Type: Single malt whiskey
Malt Mileage rating:
Nose: Apple, candied lemon peel, honey and soft peat. I keep getting medicated cough lozenges, with menthol and sugary sweetness.
Taste: Bah! How disappointing. Thin, watery, raw and just plain uninteresting. The whiskey is sweet, with apple and melon candy. As the nose suggests, I also get sweet sugary lemon drops and hints of honey. The taste of peat starts out quite vegetal, and then plumes of smoke form.
Finish: Smoky, with warming peppery spices.
