Nose: Herbal notes are soft, and interwoven with dark chocolate, vanilla, and fruit cake. Faint wood smoke sits in the backdrop.
Taste: A little oily and viscous, a foundation of cocoa, barley and mild sherry notes sit beneath menthol, parsley and energetic spices.
Finish: Old oak, slightly spicy, with fading fruit cake.
Overall: A charismatic and classic old sherried Speysider, even if a little light on the sherry flavours.
I had the chance to try this on Friday night. I’ve always been a Glenfarclas fan and it didn’t disappoint. I only wish I hadn’t had that half bottle of wine before it so I could have savoured it even more!
