Bearded Lady Bourbon is produced by the 5 Square Mile distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Nose: Toasted coconut, warm scones, honey and maple syrup add layers of sweetness to a core of lovely corn and rye. The smell of charred wood sits over all these aromas, and with time I can smell toasted marshmallows and ginger bread.
Taste: Sweet corn and caramel is swept away by spicy rye and char, as the taste of crystalline brown sugar leads into cinnamon and ginger. As the spices slowly fade, caramel and vanilla are a welcome wave of relief from that attack of spices.
Finish: The golden caramel morphs into dark burnt toffee, and the fading taste of spicy rye is replaced by more brown sugar, flashes of rummy sugars, buttery vanillas and toasted oak.
Overall: This hot n spicy bourbon has a fiery punch that will put hair on any chin! At its price, this bourbon exceeded my expectations.
